Here’s a list of social justice related events happening at Trevecca.

 

October

15 – The Red Bus Project

15 – Neighborhood Ministries Blitz, 6:30-8 PM in TSAC
Check out the local ministries Trevecca is partnering with and learn about how you can
get involved.

24-26 – Ministry of Compassion trip to Atlanta, Georgia
Kathy Mowry’s class will be visiting the Salvation Army and Bob Lupton of CCDA
(Christian Community Development Association).

29-30 – Poverty Simulation, 6:30-8:30 PM Monday night and 9:30-11:30 AM Tuesday morning, TSAC
This will be an interactive simulation where participants will be grouped into family
units inside a mock city. They will be given resources to try and make ends meet like
urban families do on a daily basis.

30 – Social Justice Club Informational Meeting, 8 PM, Location TBD
Students interested in the club can come learn how to be involved. All majors are
welcome.

 

November

3 – The Challenge road race benefitting Kid Power, 7 AM
There will be hills, tires, stairs, and lactic acid build up for 30 minutes to an hour. All funds raised go directly to Kid Power. Click here for registration and more info.

5 – “Flow” Film Forum
“Irena Salina’s award-winning documentary investigation into what experts label the
most important political and environmental issue of the 21st Century – The World Water
Crisis.” – Taken from the film’s website

5 – The Biggest Loser Competition
This will be a competition in conjunction with the “Flow” film. Student dorms will see who can have the largest water reduction percentage. The length is

December

1 – Nashville Praise Symphony, Boone Convocation Center
The symphony will be performing to raise money for Free for Life, an organization that
works to rescue and restore human trafficking victims.

Fair Trade Store
The social justice club will be hosting a fair trade store again this year. Dates and
location are TBD.
